In his speech at the opening conference in Los Angeles BUILD, 13 to 16 September 2011, Steve Sinofsky (President of Windows and Windows Live Division, Microsoft) investigated a number of new features of Windows 8.
"We have re-imagines the Windows," Sinofsky said as reported by BGR site. "Starting from the chipset to the user experience, Windows 8 brings a range of new capabilities without compromise," he added.
As anticipated, Microsoft Windows 8 is designed to address the growing market for tablet PCs and touch screen. The platform is universal, it looks equally good in a variety of devices, both 10-inch tablet, laptop, or PC all-in-one 27-inch high-definition. Microsoft calls it "One Windows - many shapes". [Windows 8 can be smoothly displayed in various screen sizes.
In the latest interface called "Metro style", Windows 8 is seen indulging user touch screen product. No more shortcut icons on the desktop screen. Now, the Start page enlivened box-box contains a selection of apps and content. Very similar to Windows Phone 7.
Because it is designed for use on the touch screen, Windows 8 also includes a virtual keyboard with two types: full-sized keyboard with bigger keys and a thumb keyboard that is more unique and concise.
Windows 8 was amplified various applications that can be found on the Windows Store. Microsoft guarantee apps compatible with the platform x86, x64, or ARM. As for ease of browsing the Internet, available Internet Explorer 10, which already supports HTML5.
BUILD conjunction with the conference, Microsoft has released a Developer Preview version of Windows 8 which can be downloaded at the following address: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/home/. File size varies from 2.8 to 4.8 GB.
